The Rolex Oyster Perpetual 36 126000-0016 debuted in 2026 as one of the centenary editions marking 100 years of the Oyster, and within that 2026 launch it is defined above all by its multicoloured Jubilee-motif dial. While the Oyster Perpetual 41 in the same series introduces yellow Rolesor, this Oyster Perpetual 36 remains in Oystersteel and instead uses its dial as the central point of distinction, revisiting a historical Rolex motif in an entirely new execution. Rolex describes this version as a reimagining of the Jubilee pattern introduced at the end of the 1970s, here transformed into a lacquered composition in which the letters of the Rolex name appear across the dial in no fewer than ten colours. The case measures 36 mm in diameter and is built around the familiar Oyster architecture, with a monobloc middle case, screw-down case back, and screw-down Twinlock winding crown. Crafted entirely in Oystersteel, it combines a satin-finished middle case with polished sides and a domed polished bezel, preserving the restrained external format of the Oyster Perpetual line while allowing the dial to carry most of the visual complexity. Like the other 2026 Oyster Perpetual introductions, it is fitted with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and is water-resistant to 100 metres. The dial is the defining feature of reference 126000. Rather than relying on a single colour or surface treatment, Rolex uses a multicoloured lacquered base with the Jubilee motif rendered as an interlocking field of graphic forms and repeated letterforms. According to the launch material, the colours are not applied simultaneously but one after another, and the design depends on extremely precise positioning of each element across the dial surface. The result is a composition that is unusually dense and animated for an Oyster Perpetual, yet still organised within the familiar time-only layout. The applied hour markers and hands are executed in 18 ct white gold and filled with Chromalight, while the seconds hand remains without luminous material. Power comes from Rolex calibre 3230, the same self-winding manufacture movement used in the Oyster Perpetual 41 of this 2026 group. Calibre 3230 runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides central hours, minutes and seconds, stop-seconds, and a power reserve of approximately 70 hours. Its technical features include the Chronergy escapement, a blue Parachrom hairspring with Rolex overcoil, a large balance with variable inertia regulated by four gold Microstella nuts, and Paraflex shock absorbers. Within the broader 2026 Oyster Perpetual release, Rolex pairs calibre 3230 with the 41 mm and 36 mm references, while the 28 mm and 34 mm models receive calibre 2232. The watch is fitted with an Oyster bracelet in Oystersteel, with three-piece solid links, satin-finished upper surfaces, polished edges, a folding Oysterclasp, and the Easylink comfort extension system allowing approximately 5 mm of adjustment. As on the other current Oyster Perpetual models, the bracelet keeps the construction straightforward and robust, which suits the collection’s role as the most distilled expression of the Oyster concept. Rolex also states that these 2026 Oyster Perpetual models are covered by the strengthened Superlative Chronometer certification introduced that year, adding testing criteria for magnetism resistance, reliability, and sustainability while maintaining a finished-watch precision standard of −2/+2 seconds per day.
